Where to Surf in Bali: Beaches for Beginners, Intermediates and Pros

Penulis : Makruf  |  Editor : Makruf

Just up from Kuta, Legian offers the same mellow vibe but with slightly fewer crowds.

The waves are manageable, the atmosphere laid-back, and the sunsets nothing short of magical.

It’s a great transition beach once you’ve stood on your board a few times and want to build confidence.

Seminyak Beach

Known for its chic cafés and bohemian vibe, Seminyak also serves up playful waves ideal for novice surfers.

The beach is wide and sandy, with waves that break gently—long enough to practice balance, short enough not to overwhelm.

Jimbaran Bay

More famous for its seafood dinners on the sand, Jimbaran also hides small, friendly waves that suit absolute beginners.

Here, the water tends to be calmer, perfect if you’re easing into the sport.

Medewi (Inside Section)

A little farther up the west coast, Medewi is Bali’s longboard paradise.

The inside section is mellow, with waves that peel lazily to the left, giving beginners an extended ride to practice footwork and stance.

Where Intermediates Thrive

For those who already know how to pop up, turn, and paddle with purpose, Bali’s intermediate spots provide challenge without intimidation.

Expect more powerful waves, reef or rock bottoms, and longer rides.
